Assalamualaikum and a very good day to everyone. It has been almost 3 months since my last posting… so nak start balik menulis memang liat lah. I know that we are already coming to the end of Syawal and it is kind of late to wish everyone Selamat Hari Raya but I’m gonna wish it anyway. So… Eid Mubarak to everyone and may the Guidance and Blessings of Allah be with you and your family always.
I hope that everyone enjoyed their eid and had a great time with family and friends during the holidays. As for us here, this year is our 5th Eid ul Fitr away from home. Raya celebration in Kuwait this year was rather quiet as most of Malaysians took the opportunity to celebrate Eid in Malaysia, taking advantage of the long summer holidays here. As usual, we performed our Eid ul Fitr prayers at the embassy and then we attended the Hari Raya Open house hosted by the TYT Dato Adnan Haji Othman, Malaysian ambassador to Kuwait and his wife YB Datin Azlinda Rosli. These are some snap shots taken during the “makan makan”.
Even though we are thousands of miles away from home, every year for the last 5 years, our menu for pagi raya is always nasi dagang… the smells of nasi dagang in the morning giving you the illusion that you are at home with families back in Kelantan… enjoying your breakfast before off to the mosque for prayers. Insyaallah, ada rezeki, panjang umur maybe next year we will be celebrating our raya in Malaysia.
Open house…. well…our open house is always done on the first day of raya, right after maghrib. Menu tak de lah hebat sangat…. just the normal raya menu; nasi dagang, nasi impit, kuah kacang, pulut kuning, rendang, rojak buah, spaghetti and some raya cookies. Alhamdulillah everything went well.
Raya celebration is more or less over, even though we still have one or two invitation to open house last weekend and this weekend. Kids just started school yesterday after a long 3 months summer holidays. Academic year for 2012/2013 started yesterday,Wednesday 5th September. A lot of people think that it is kind of strange for the school to start 2 days before the weekend. Well… for our school, the first day of their academic year is never on Sunday, it is either on Tuesday or Wednesday…. I guess they want to start slow…. allowing the children to slowly adjust to the normal school routine after 3 months of holidays… The kindergarten children(KG – age 3 1/2 years to 5 years) will start a week later in 2 batches… giving the teachers, assistant teachers and the class maids more time to calm the children… just imagine if all 25 children in one class cry at the same time… it will be havoc, they wont have time to attend to everyone. So by splitting them into 2 batches they hope that by the time the 2nd batch starts, the 1st batch is already well adjusted to the class routine… My boy Haqeem will be starting his KG next week ,11th of Sept and I have butterflies in my stomach for weeks already. Well… good luck everybody!
